We are now looking for an outstanding Station Director to lead Smooth North East into its next phase of growth and success.

The Role

As Station Director, you will have overall responsibility for the commercial leadership of Smooth North East. Working closely with senior stakeholders across Communicorp UK, you will lead the station strategy, inspire high-performing teams, be hands on with customers and ensure the successful delivery of ambitious commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be passionate about radio and audio.
  • Lead from the front as a strong and credible ambassador for the station internally and externally, be brave in building confidence with clients, agencies, partners and stakeholders
  • Lead the station with energy, ambition and pace, creating a high-performance culture that inspires teams to deliver exceptional results
  • Develop and execute the station’s strategic, commercial and creative plans, ensuring clear delivery against revenue objectives
  • Inspire, motivate and energise the commercial team to exceed targets through strong leadership, coaching, accountability and performance management
  • Drive revenue growth by identifying new commercial opportunities, using creativity and strengthening key client relationships and maximising the station’s multi-platform offering
  • Build a culture of integrity, ownership, resilience and accountability where high standards and execution are non-negotiable
  • Use strong commercial judgement and leadership edge to make difficult decisions quickly, effectively and in the best interests of the business
  • Develop talent across the station, creating an environment where individuals are challenged, supported and empowered to grow
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive media landscape and proactively position the station for continued success

Your Experience

  • You will be a commercially driven, high-energy leader with significant experience operating at a senior level within media, broadcasting or a comparable commercial environment
  • You will have a proven track record of delivering revenue growth, leading high-performing teams and successfully executing commercial strategies
  • You will bring strong leadership presence, credibility and the ability to inspire confidence across all levels of the business
  • You will be a natural motivator and coach, capable of energising teams and creating a culture of ambition, accountability and success
  • You will have the resilience, edge and sound judgement required to make tough decisions in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • You will possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence clients, stakeholders and teams effectively
