We are seeking a Station Assistant (internally known as Station Assistant (Guard)) to join our Gulflander team in Normanton on a permanent full time basis.

Purpose That Counts. As a Station Assistant, some of your duties will include:
• Preparing the Gulflander for journey – restocking, loading and unloading train on arrival and departure
• Keeping the station, train, facilities and gardens clean, safe and looking their best
• Making platform announcements and assisting passengers
• Performing guard duties when required to work on board the Gulflander – this includes shunting (moving) the train, securing rollingstock doors and connecting hose bags beneath rollingstock.
• Delivering friendly customer service to passengers and locals – including assisting with luggage
• Operating station machinery and equipment
• Helping with bookings, enquiries and phone calls
• Reporting any safety concerns to the Officer in Charge
Hours
This role typically works Monday to Friday between 0700 to 1530, with additional weekend, public holiday and occasional overnight work in Croydon, where shifts may finish as late as 1900.
We are looking to connect with someone who ideally has:
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills coupled with a customer focused mindset
• Sound computer skills.
• A strong work ethic – reliable, hardworking and willing to go the extra mile
• A safety-focused mindset
• Resilience and ability to self-motivate.
• The ability to perform occasional heavy lifting (up to 20kg)
• Previous cleaning experience or admin experience (ticketing or booking of travel).
• Current C Class Driver Licence (essential)
