Job Description

Who we are looking for:

The Static Data Lead (VP) is responsible for end-to-end ownership of Static Data (Reference Data) strategy, governance, and operations across all Global Markets products. This role provides global leadership supporting static data ownership ensuring data integrity, control robustness, and operational scalability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Operating Model

  • Define and execute the Static Data strategy aligned to Markets transformation agenda

  • Drive target operating model including centralization, standardization, and scalability

  • Act as global owner for Static Data across business lines, ensuring consistency across regions

  • Partner with senior leadership on capacity planning, location strategy, and resiliency model

2. Data Governance & Control Framework

  • Establish and enforce enterprise-wide data governance standards and policies

  • Ensure strict adherence to data accuracy, completeness, and consistency standards

  • Strengthen control frameworks including change management tracking, Audit readiness and regulatory compliance

  • Own risk identification, mitigation, and control enhancement programs

3. End-to-End Static Data Operations Oversight

  • Provide executive oversight of:

    • Client onboarding & account setup

    • SSI management

    • Counterparty and instrument data

    • Market and pricing reference data

  • Drive SLA adherence, productivity, and operational performance globally

4. Risk, Audit & Regulatory Management

  • Act as senior escalation point for high-risk data issues and control breaches

  • Lead response to internal/external audits and regulatory reviews

  • Ensure full audit traceability, documentation, and evidence readiness

  • Monitor KRIs, incidents, and trends; drive risk reduction initiatives

5. Transformation & Automation

  • Lead strategic initiatives including:

    • Data platform migrations

    • Automation of manual processes

    • Workflow simplification and standardization

  • Drive data quality improvement programs to reduce downstream breaks and operational risk

6. Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management

  • Act as primary interface with:

    • Front Office / Trading

    • Middle Office / Trade Support

    • Risk & Compliance

    • Product, Technology & Data teams

    • Markets Operations teams

7. People Leadership & Organization Development

  • Lead and scale global teams across regions (APAC, EMEA, NA)

  • Build strong leadership bench and SME depth

  • Drive talent development & succession planning, performance management, employee engagement and culture

  • Deep understanding of securities, counterparties, SSIs, products, rates, market data

  • Strong risk & control mindset

  • Strategic thinking and transformation leadership

  • Stakeholder management at senior/executive level

  • Data governance and quality management expertise

  • Crisis and escalation management

  • Ability to operate in high-volume, high-risk environments

Required Experience & Skills

  • 12–15 years in Global Markets / Investment Banking Operations

  • Strong experience in:

    • Static Data / Reference Data management

    • Trade lifecycle (FX, derivatives, financing, etc.)

  • Proven leadership of large, multi-location teams
