  • Grow and nurture the Dan Murphy’s State team to be the creators of exceptional customer experience, service and hosting spaces where customers feel welcome every time
  • Lead the effective delivery of the State-wide strategy, translating brand priorities into actionable plans that inspire our teams and brings energy to our Stores
  • Own the P&L with customer insights, products, planning and trade knowledge being core to successful delivery of financial outcomes in your State

As State Manager, Queensland, you’ll lead one of Dan Murphy’s key state operations, bringing together our teams, stores and support functions to deliver great customer experiences and strong commercial outcomes across the state.

This is a senior leadership role with real state-wide impact. You’ll lead 4 Area Managers and store leaders across 60+ stores and 1400+ team members, translating Dan Murphy’s strategy into clear, practical plans that bring energy to our stores, support our teams and keep customers at the heart of every decision.

You’ll play an important role in shaping performance, building capability and creating the conditions for our Queensland teams to thrive. It’s a rare opportunity to lead a significant operation within one of Australia’s most recognised retail brands, as part of a national leadership team that is helping Dan Murphy’s continue to evolve, grow and deliver for customers.

Based in Brisbane, Queensland with state and interstate travel as required, this is a permanent full time opportunity

  • Lead Dan Murphy’s strategy across Queensland, turning national priorities into clear state plans.
  • Own performance across sales, customer, team, safety, compliance and operational excellence.
  • Lead and develop Area Managers, building capability, confidence and accountability.
  • Use data and insights to identify opportunities and improve store performance.
  • Drive commercial outcomes through strong planning, trade execution and P&L ownership.
  • Lead change and improvement while keeping teams focused on customers and stores.
  • Build future leaders through strong succession planning and talent development.
  • Partner across the business to deliver outcomes for Queensland and Dan Murphy’s nationally.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you:

Ideally, you will be pragmatic, adaptable and thrive in rapidly changing landscapes and can demonstrate considerable experience in the following key areas:

  • Significant multi-site leadership experience in retail, FMCG, hospitality or a similar customer-led business.
  • A strong track record of commercial delivery, including budgets, forecasts, performance outcomes or P&L.
  • Experience leading through leaders, with the ability to coach, develop and inspire Area Managers or equivalent teams.
  • A customer-first mindset, using insights and data to improve service, experience and results.
  • Experience leading change, transformation or operational improvement in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
  • High energy, adaptability and the flexibility to travel across Queensland as required.
