SALARY

$26/hr - $32/hr (dependent on experience and qualifications)

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
Associate's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field (experience may be substituted for education in exceptional circumstances)
Three to five years of accounting experience
Ability to review and evaluate the work of accounting staff
Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel

Preferred
Knowledge and experience with the Uniform Financial Accounting and Reporting Standards (UFARS) system
Skyward software experience
Previous experience working with grant accounting and/or reporting
Previous experience in school district finance


The State and Federal Programs Accountant is responsible for providing professional, accurate, and timely accounting services that assists in maintaining the district's accounting system and the reporting of its finances.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Responsible for financial accounting and reporting for federal, state, and local grants
Collect, enter, reconcile, and submit data for revenue collection in various systems including SEDRA, MEGS, and G5
Train and assist district staff with UFARS coding, reporting, budget transfers, and running reports in Skyward
Monitor IDEAS, MEGS, and other MDE systems and create and record deposit account allocations as needed
Completes invoicing for student tuition billing
Prepares required federal expenditure and compliance reports including time and effort reporting and vendor debarment
Assist staff with the development of budgets for state and federal grant applications
Assists with the preparation of spreadsheets and reports used in the annual budget process
Maintain accurate salary and benefit information for staff funded by state and federal grants and ensure that UFARS codes are consistent with assignments and licensure
Complete payroll account code adjustments as needed
Monitors grant program expenditures for compliance and accuracy
Responds to monitoring requests regarding grant, state, and federal funding sources
Enter budget revisions in Skyward as needed
Assist in the preparation of the annual financial audit
Assists with all financial accounting for the district, ensuring timely, accurate reporting and efficient processes
Coordinate accounting functions necessary to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, state statutes, and board policy
Organizes and manages a functional filing system that ensures the safe retention and efficient retrieval of office records in accordance with established state and federal laws
Recommends policies, procedures, or changes for the purpose of improving efficiency in processes
Other duties as assigned
