Our Potential Opportunity

INTECH Automation Intelligence is seeking Startup Lead to join our dynamic team. The Startup Lead will be responsible for planning and leading all startup activities, coordinating the transition from commissioning to safe and reliable plant operations, and managing startup-related risks. The role requires strong expertise in startup of process plants including control systems such as Schneider Foxboro DCS and Triconex ESD Systems, and close collaboration with operations, commissioning, and process engineering teams.

What You’ll Lead and Deliver

  • Develop comprehensive startup plans and procedures covering all process systems, utilities, and support systems, defining a safe and systematic path to first production.
  • Lead the execution of startup activities including system energization, line-up, introduction of process fluids, ramping to design conditions, and initial performance verification.
  • Lead startup activities for control systems including Schneider Foxboro DCS and Triconex ESD Systems, including final loop tuning, trip verification, and alarm management.
  • Identify and manage startup risks through pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR), risk assessments, and contingency planning for critical path activities.
  • Work closely with the operations team to prepare for initial plant operation, including operator readiness, procedural walk-throughs, and shift briefings.
  • Identify and coordinate the resolution of startup punchlist items, process upsets, and equipment performance issues during the startup phase.
  • Coordinate performance testing activities against design guarantees and operating targets, in collaboration with process engineers and vendors.
  • Prepare daily startup progress reports for project management and client; document lessons learned and startup close-out reports.

Requirements

To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • 13–15 years of experience in commissioning, startup, and operations in oil and gas, LNG, or petrochemical facilities.
  • Proven experience leading startup activities for process plants with Schneider Foxboro DCS and Triconex ESD Systems.
  • Strong understanding of process safety, HAZOP/PSSR processes, and operational risk management during startup.
  • Experience on Saudi Aramco or ADNOC startup projects is a significant advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in developing and executing detailed startup procedures for all process and utility systems, from cold start to full design conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of startup activities for Schneider Foxboro DCS and Triconex ESD Systems including final tuning, trip testing verification, and alarm management.
  • Strong understanding of process flow, equipment performance, and process safety considerations during initial plant startup.
  • Experience conducting Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) and managing MOC (Management of Change) processes during startup.
  • Knowledge of performance test methodologies for rotating equipment, heat exchangers, columns, and process systems.

Soft Skills:

  • Proven ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary startup teams through the high-pressure plant startup phase.
  • Decisive and calm under pressure, able to make sound operational judgments during the dynamic plant startup window.
  • Excellent communication skills to brief shift teams, coordinate with vendors and project management, and interface with the client operations team.
  • Rapid and systematic problem-solving ability to address equipment upsets, process deviations, and control system anomalies during startup.
  • Uncompromising personal commitment to process safety and safe startup practices throughout the startup campaign.

Experience Requirements:

  • 13–15 years of commissioning and startup experience with proven leadership in first-time startup of oil and gas, LNG, or petrochemical process plants.
  • Significant experience leading startup of plants incorporating Schneider Foxboro DCS and Triconex ESD Systems from commissioning handover to stable operations.
  • Demonstrated success in planning and executing startup campaigns for Saudi Aramco or ADNOC facilities.
  • Track record of identifying and resolving startup issues rapidly to minimize time to first production.
