Have fun driving the downtown connector municipal shuttle. Historic Tours of America has been contracted by the City of St. Augustine to provide staff and service for the downtown city shuttle.

*this is NOT a City of St. Augustine/Government position

This is a non-spieling role. Must have a good sense of fun, desire for customer service and hospitality, as well as excellent driving skills as you drive a shuttle on the streets of St. Augustine!

Must have a CDL with Passenger Endorsement.

This position must have a good sense of fun and desire to provide good customer service, as well as excellent driving skills as they drive a shuttle on busy public streets multiple times a work shift.

Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Drive in a safe, competent manner a vehicle that is 24 feet to 34 feet in length with passengers on busy public streets multiple times a work shift.
  • Meet and deal with the general public and diverse company employees in a prompt, courteous manner
  • Handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via the radio while maintaining composure in a pleasant, calm, courteous manner
  • Maintain radio contact with dispatch
  • Perform an interior and exterior physical inspection of the vehicle daily and accurately complete the departmental documents/forms for inspection.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to drive a vehicle that is 24 feet to 34 feet in length in a safe, competent manner on busy public streets or driving on company property.
  • Ability to work independently over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations.
  • Ability to dealing with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people in a pleasant, calm, courteous manner.
  • Mental attitude required to handle the stress that goes with this job as described.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak clear English in order to communicate with co-workers, general public, law enforcement, and emergency personnel and to complete required paperwork correctly.

Qualification

  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Valid Florida Class C or higher CDL with passenger endorsement required
  • Acceptable driving record for past three years.

Other Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment MVR/background check and substance abuse testing.
  • Valid DOT physical required
