Shape the standards that keep critical operations safe, resilient and effective

At Anglian Water, safe and reliable operations depend on having clear standards, strong technical governance and the right people with the right capabilities.

We are looking for a Standards and Resource Governance Lead to establish and maintain a consistent, auditable and resilient approach to maintenance across our Bioresources activities. You will lead the development and governance of maintenance standards, while strengthening how competency, authorisation and specialist resources are managed and deployed.

This is a highly influential role for someone who can combine engineering or maintenance knowledge with strong governance, stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking. You will help ensure our maintenance activities are safe, risk-based, practical and aligned with regulatory, operational and process safety requirements.

What you’ll be doing

You will take ownership of maintenance policy and standards across Bioresources assets, including CHP, gas, SRP, sludge treatment and associated critical infrastructure. Working with technical specialists, operational teams and suppliers, you will ensure that standards are fit for purpose and embedded within maintenance plans, job instructions and asset care activity.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, reviewing and governing maintenance standards, procedures and technical documentation.
  • Identifying gaps and creating practical, risk-based and value-driven standards.
  • Ensuring standards align with regulatory, health and safety, process safety and operational requirements.
  • Providing assurance against OEM standards, approved procedures, statutory requirements and industry good practice.
  • Creating reporting that gives clear visibility of compliance, competency and critical maintenance activity.
  • Working with responsible teams to address variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintaining competency frameworks, skills matrices, training records and authorisation requirements.
  • Helping define the technical and competency requirements for standby, emergency and out-of-hours maintenance response.
  • Developing resilience plans for critical skills, specialist assets and safety-critical maintenance activities.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience of developing or governing maintenance standards, procedures or technical documentation.
  • An understanding of competency management, skills matrices, training records and authorisation processes.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety, regulatory compliance and process safety expectations.
  • The ability to assess operational risk and make balanced, evidence-led decisions.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • The ability to translate technical requirements into clear, practical standards and guidance.
  • A logical and systematic approach, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence using digital systems, data and reporting tools.

Why Anglian Water?

This is an opportunity to shape how critical maintenance is governed across Bioresources and create improvements that can strengthen safety, compliance and operational resilience.

Your work will help provide clearer standards, better visibility of capability and greater confidence that specialist maintenance activities are being undertaken by appropriately skilled and authorised people.
