Standardized Patient Emulator

Northeast Georgia Health System | Simulation Center

Play a Role That Shapes the Future of Healthcare

Ever thought about combining a love of acting with a passion for helping others? As a Standardized Patient Emulator at NGHS, you'll step into the shoes of a patient or medical staff member to help train the physicians, nurses, and health professionals who care for our community every day.

Working from detailed scripts and direction, you'll portray the signs and symptoms of various medical conditions in a simulated patient room — helping learners build the empathy, connection, and clinical assessment skills that make great healthcare providers. No invasive procedures are involved, and shifts are scheduled on an as-needed basis around the Simulation Center's training calendar, making this a great flexible, part-time opportunity.

What You'll Do

  • Accurately portray a patient, simulating and verbalizing a variety of physical symptoms and behaviors
  • Participate in healthcare simulation activities that may include interviews, history-taking, and selected non-invasive physical activities while maintaining personal comfort and established program guidelines.
  • Memorize detailed patient histories and case information to respond authentically to learners' questions
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners from the patient perspective using established feedback tools and guidelines.
  • Be comfortable being videotaped and/or observed during exams
  • Bring flexibility to your schedule and commit to shifts as booked

What You'll Bring

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred:

  • Acting, theatre, or drama experience or training
  • Multi-lingual proficiency

Skills for Success:

  • Strong memorization skills with the ability to accurately portray specific symptoms and behaviors
  • Excellent reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, confidentiality, and consistency when portraying patient cases and interacting with learners
  • A flexible, adaptable mindset with creative problem-solving skills
  • A professional, customer-service-oriented demeanor with strong interpersonal skills

Why Join NGHS?

You'll play a meaningful, behind-the-scenes role in training the next generation of healthcare professionals — helping ensure every patient who walks through our doors is met with skill, compassion, and confidence

Working at NGHS means being part of something special: a team invested in you as a person, an employee, and in helping you reach your goals.
