ABOUT THE POSITION
Wildhorse is looking for experienced Stampede BBQ Pit Supervisors to fill out their team on a full-time seasonal contract for 3 weeks starting at the end of June. The Stampede BBQ Pit Supervisor contributes to the oversight of the back of house operations. This position is responsible for several functions including but not limited to coordinating kitchen production, training staff, maintaining food safety standards, managing kitchen staff performance, and supporting service during high-volume periods. The Kitchen Supervisor must maintain a constant presence in the kitchen and ensure a positive company image is upheld through strong leadership, teamwork, and the consistent delivery of quality food and efficient service.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Ensure kitchen goals and service expectations are communicated, understood, and met by hourly kitchen staff
- Supervise daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth service during high-volume periods
Assist with food preparation and expedite orders to maintain service flow
- Ensure compliance with provincial food safety and sanitation regulations
- Monitor food quality, portioning, and presentation standards
- Assist with ordering, inventory management, and minimizing food waste
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate maintenance needs to management
- Work with management to ensure newly hired kitchen staff receive proper orientation and training
- Provide guidance and coaching to kitchen staff to ensure productivity and job satisfaction
- Listen to staff suggestions for improving kitchen operations and communicate ideas to management
- Ensure kitchen staff have the tools, supplies, and ingredients necessary to perform their roles effectively
- Train staff on proper food handling, preparation techniques, and kitchen procedures
- Ensure hourly kitchen staff understand their job responsibilities and performance expectations
- Support service recovery by addressing kitchen-related guest concerns quickly and professionally
- Provide constructive feedback to kitchen staff to improve efficiency and consistency
- Act as a bridge between kitchen staff and management to ensure clear communication
- Collaborate with management to improve kitchen operations and workflow during the Stampede
- Enforce compliance with health, safety, and operational procedures
Assist in recognizing and motivating team members for strong performance
- Support management with scheduling needs and staff coverage during busy periods
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times
- Adapt to changing service demands and assist wherever needed during peak service
- Execute ad-hoc operational duties as required.
WHAT YOU HAVE
- At least one year of experience with demonstrated success in a comparable kitchen supervisory or leadership role
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards
- Experience working in high-volume kitchens or fast-paced food service environments
- Strong English communication skills with the ability to build relationships with team members and management
- Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in stressful, high-pressure environments
- Demonstrated ability to organize work schedules, delegate tasks, and lead a team effectively
- Working knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations
- Experience addressing employee concerns and supporting performance management processes
- Strong team player who leads by example and supports a positive kitchen culture
- Basic knowledge of inventory control and food cost awareness
- Valid Alberta Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs
- Possesses high professional ethics and maintains professionalism with coworkers.
