PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To enhance Impala's image as a good corporate citizen by continuously connecting and engaging relevant stakeholders to create and maintain sustainable relationships at its operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent essential
- HR/Communications/Public Relations/Community Development Diploma/Degree or NQF 6/7 equivalent is essential
- Minimum 3-4 years' experience within HR, Communications or Stakeholder Engagement Departments is essential
COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of the local communities and leadership structures (RLM & RBN) Standards and Procedures
- Understand the dynamics of geopolitics and socioeconomics of local communities
- Knowledge of company's departmental functions
- Knowledge of the Mining Charter III with regards to the definition of Mine Communities
- Knowledge of the Social & Labour Plan (SLP)
- Computer Knowledge (Microsoft Office)
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Engages HR to ensure that local community members are prioritised for employment opportunities for Operation and contractors.
- Verifies employment application documents of local candidates for potential employment by consultation with community leadership.
- Engages GM on the execution of annual community development plan and accompany GM on all community initiatives.
- Engages legitimate community leaders of both RLM and RBN to ensure cordial and effective relationships.
- Identifies capacity needs of community leadership and liaise with Head: Stakeholder Engagement to address these needs through RLM and RBN.
- Proactively identifies community needs and associated risks and address same with the assistance of the GM.
- Refers community requests with recommendations to the donations committee for considerations with reference to the donations policy and procedure.
- Engages pressure groups and individuals who approach the operations with concerns and liaise with Head: Stakeholder Engagement
- Co-ordinates all operations stakeholder engagement matters.
- Maintains records of all engagements (i.e. Minutes, Filing, stakeholder Management system, meeting schedules) for reporting at Stakeholder Engagement weekly departmental meetings and for monthly reporting.
- Implements initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scope and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
- Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
- Builds, supports and maintains healthy diverse internal and external relations and implements remedial actions where required.
- Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
- Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
- Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
