Funded through the National Autism Strategy, the Improving Social Connections program is a major new national initiative designed to strengthen peer connection, reduce social isolation and build belonging for Autistic people, families and carers across Australia.

Delivered by Aspect in partnership with Reframing Autism, the program will establish a national Framework, Information Hub, Community Partner network and resources that support meaningful, community-led peer connection opportunities across the country.

About the role

Help shape this national initiative by building strong relationships and creating opportunities for meaningful participation.

As Stakeholder Engagement Lead, you will lead consultation, co-design and stakeholder engagement activities that ensure Autistic people, families, carers, Community Partners and key stakeholders contribute to program design and delivery. You will play a critical role in ensuring diverse perspectives are reflected in the Framework, resources and implementation approach. You will also support the development of strong, trusted relationships across the sector to enable effective delivery and national reach.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead stakeholder engagement, consultation and co-design activities
  • Build and maintain relationships with Community Partners and key stakeholders
  • Support participation of priority cohorts and underrepresented communities
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies and plans
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings and consultation activities
  • Promote inclusive, accessible and culturally safe engagement practices
  • Facilitate ongoing stakeholder collaboration, ongoing feedback loops and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Lived experience of autism (desirable) or experience working in partnership with the Autistic community (or equivalent experience)
  • Relevant qualification in community development, social sciences, disability, communications or related field
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and relationship management experience
  • Strong facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience delivering consultation and co-design activities
  • Understanding of culturally safe engagement practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to accessibility, inclusion and neurodiversity-affirming practice
  • Passion for creating positive community impact

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
