SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Staffing Coordinator provides responsible and confidential services for the nursing department. The primary function involves the scheduling of appropriate clinical staff insuring adequate coverage of nursing home residents on a 24 hour a day basis. Ancillary duties include overseeing transportation needs of residents, providing secretarial services to the Director of Nurses when needed.

Examples of duties

  • Provide staffing coordination ensuring adequate coverage is maintained for all shifts 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. Maintains the online scheduling program and works in conjunction with the program company with any updates, questions and concerns.
  • Ensure all clinical staff fulfill policy requirements of weekend shifts, make-up time and holiday hours etc.
  • Compile a four week nursing schedule at least two weeks in advance of effective date and provide copies to the DON and Human Resource Offices.
  • Review nursing department payroll and update daily and review weekly. Ensures missed punch forms are completed for those staff that forget to punch in/out.
  • Maintain telephone listing of nursing employees and inform Human Resources of any changes.
  • Manage and review agency billing statements, ensures agency staff are compliant with completing the mandated trainings, policy reviews and orientation.
  • Occasionally interview applicants for LNA positions and reviews with DON
  • Assist with the activities of the transportation aide.
  • Assist the DON as needed
  • Assist Human Resources with payroll as needed.

Qualifications

A candidate for this position should be a high school graduate or equivalent, have a basic understanding of office maintenance and procedure. Organize and maintain records in compliance with state and federal regulations. Exceptional skills required in telephone techniques for providing and receiving information. Computer skills are required. Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with all levels of the organization to achieve optimal results.
