Job Description

At Gigamon, our purpose is to protect the hybrid networks and data of the largest, most complex organizations on the planet. Certified as a Great Place to Work, we offer a deep observability pipeline that efficiently delivers network-derived intelligence to cloud, security, and observability tools. This helps our customers to eliminate security blind spots, optimize network traffic, and dramatically reduce tool cost and complexity, enabling them to better secure and manage their hybrid cloud infrastructure. Gigamon has served more than 4,000 customers worldwide, including over 80 percent of Fortune 100 enterprises, 9 of the 10 largest mobile network providers, and hundreds of governments and educational organizations.

As a Staff Software Engineer – Automation Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain the automation test infrastructure that underpins Gigamon’s continuous build, test, and delivery ecosystem. You will work closely with development and QA teams to build tools, frameworks, and dashboards that improve product quality and accelerate release cycles. In this highly technical role, you will own key automation components end-to-end—from requirements gathering and design to implementation, deployment, and ongoing support. You will have the opportunity to work with network visibility products and modern automation technologies, directly impacting engineering efficiency and product delivery.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain web dashboards to represent build and test metrics such as execution progress, pass/fail status, and trend analysis.

  • Implement and enhance test automation frameworks and supporting libraries (e.g., controlling DUTs, test sets, lab equipment, and packet manipulation) to automate complex test scenarios.

  • Design, implement, and maintain continuous delivery and automation tools and dashboards using Python, GUI frameworks, and database systems.

  • Integrate automation test frameworks into the engineering build and continuous integration environment using Jenkins.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to gather requirements, design solutions, implement, deploy, enhance, and maintain automation tools and infrastructure.

  • Provide front-line support for failed test environments and test execution frameworks, including debugging, failure analysis, and issue resolution.

  • Contribute to improving the sustainability, reliability, and scalability of tools and operations within the continuous build and test platform.

What you’ve done:

  • Earned a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Accumulated 4+ years of work experience in developing and/or designing automation test frameworks and automation reporting tools.

  • Gained 2+ years of experience with front-end and back-end programming or scripting languages such as Python, TCL, and C#, including exposure to SQL databases and backend API development; experience with Flask is preferred.

  • Developed and consumed REST APIs and built or supported web-based applications using HTML and related web technologies.

  • Worked effectively within rapid, overlapping product release cycles in a deadline-driven environment.

  • (Nice to have) Worked with network protocols and network products in test or development environments.

  • (Nice to have) Gained working knowledge of VMware ESX and virtual machine system administration.

  • (Nice to have) Built experience with Linux and/or Windows system administration and with software build, configuration integration, and engineering tools.

Who you are:

  • A self-starter who is highly self-motivated, organized, and able to work autonomously to solve complex problems under time pressure.

  • A collaborative engineer who communicates clearly, listens actively, and partners effectively with peers and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented and disciplined, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks.

  • Outcome-driven, with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to drive issues to closure while maintaining high quality standards.

  • Curious and adaptable, with an interest in learning new technologies and products in the network visibility and observability domain
