Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer

We are partnering with a well-established regional public hospital located in a growing city on the NSW–ACT border, offering the rare combination of regional medicine with immediate access to a major metropolitan centre

This opportunity is ideal for an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist seeking flexibility, clinical variety and strong professional support while enjoying an outstanding lifestyle.

The Hospital

This is a small but strategically important regional hospital providing essential acute services to a rapidly growing population.

  • 24-hour Emergency Department
  • Close clinical integration with larger referral hospitals nearby
  • Strong links to tertiary services, subspecialty support and retrieval pathways
  • Serves a diverse community across the surrounding region and commuter belt

Its proximity to a major city allows clinicians to enjoy metro-level amenities, schooling and partner employment options, while practising in a genuinely community-focused hospital.

The O&G service provides core obstetric and gynaecological care, with a focus on safe, high-quality regional practice and strong collaboration.

Scope includes:

  • Antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care

You will work within a multidisciplinary team environment, contributing to:

  • Clinical leadership and service delivery
  • Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff
  • Quality improvement, risk management and governance activities
  • Ongoing development of safe, evidence-based O&G services

This role suits a specialist who values teamwork, flexibility and continuity of care, and who is comfortable participating in an on-call roster with local response requirements.

The Role

  • Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer appointment
  • Full-time, part-time, job share or regular rotation options available
  • Participation in an on-call roster (on-site response required)
  • Permanent appointment within NSW Health

Essential Criteria

  • Specialist registration (or eligibility) with AHPRA in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Demonstrated clinical experience across obstetrics and gynaecology
  • Ability to work effectively and provide leadership within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to teaching, continuing professional development and quality improvement
  • Strong communication and IT skills
  • Capacity to manage competing clinical demands in a regional setting

  • Salary packaging benefits (living expenses, meals & entertainment, novated leasing)
  • Flexible work arrangements to support work–life balance
  • Annual leave loading and corporate health & wellbeing programs
  • Lifestyle benefits of living near a major city while enjoying regional housing affordability and shorter commutes
