This is a 100% remote position.

About your new role:

We are not looking for a maintenance engineer. We are seeking aStaff Software Engineerto act as the primary architect for our next-generation financial platform. Our goal is to decommission a legacy PHP monolith and replace it with a modern, high-performance, and resilient service-oriented architecture (SOA) capable of handling billions of global transactions with 100% accuracy.

You will be the technical lead for our billing, license management, and revenue recognition systems—the core engines of our business. This role is about more than just refactoring; it is about engineering the distributedsystemsprimitives that ensure every invoice, payment, and reconciliation is reliable, auditable, and secure at a global scale.

Key Strategic Responsibilities

• System Re-Architecture:Lead the transition from a monolithic legacy stack to a modern SOA using the Strangler Fig pattern, ensuring zero downtime and complete data parity.

• Engineering for Financial Integrity:Design and implement robust idempotency patterns and distributed locking mechanisms to ensure exactlyonce processing for all financial transactions.

• High-Scale Data Ingestion:Architect metering and rating engines capable of processing high-cardinality usage data, supporting complex tiered and usage-based billing models.

• Ecosystem Integration:Build andmaintainscalable, secure integrations with critical ERP and payment platforms, including NetSuite, Stripe, Zuora, andChargebee.

• Observability & Reliability:Establishworld-class standards for performance, monitoring, and alerting across our financial stack, ensuring high availability and rapid incident resolution.

• Force Multiplication:Act as a mentor and technical guide for our senior engineering team, conducting deep architectural reviews and authoring Architectural Decision Records (ADRs) to steer our long-term roadmap.

Your Technical Toolkit

• Experience:10+ years of building and scaling reliable backend systems, with a focus on financial or high-transaction platforms.

• Modernization Expertise:A proventrack recordof successfully migrating legacy monoliths to modern service-based architectures (experience with PHP refactoring is a significant asset).

• Cloud Architecture:Deepproficiencyin Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP, with hands-on experience in Kubernetes, Terraform, and serverlesscompute.

• Domain Knowledge:Solid understanding of global financial complexities, including multi-currency handling, tax automation, and revenue recognition standards.

• Security & Compliance:Practical experience implementing PCI, SOC2, and GDPR standards, with a focus on secure authentication (OAuth 2.0, JWT).

• Communication:Exceptional ability to translate complex business needs from Finance and Operations into scalable, elegant technical designs.
