Compensation
The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $134,100.00 – $223,500.00. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to 15%, based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

Position Details
As a Staff Software Engineer (Software Engineer IV) in the Customer Order domain, you will help the core of Grainger’s business, placing orders for the products we sell. The Customer Expected Delivery Date (CEDD) team does the work of predicting the date that our customers will receive their order. This role is a key player in delivering high-quality code that aligns with our architectural principals, meets our business objectives, and grows our future technical talent. This role is expected to engage with people both inside and beyond their direct team; they will work directly with Product Managers, Architects, and key stakeholders.
You Will
Act as a technical subject matter expert for your direct team, and throughout the domain
Drive technical quality through Test Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Delivery (CD), and Pair Programming
Influence the architectural approach to the components that your team is responsible for
Influence the prioritization of technical debt
Contribute to continuous learning on your team culture by leading knowledge sharing sessions with latest technological features and engineering practices
Maintain software in production with demonstrated ability to triage and resolve issues
Help mature our approach to AI supported software engineering
You Have
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in computer science or similar; or equivalent experience required
5+ years experience as a Software Engineer; with experience in modern software engineering; designing; developing, testing and deploying scalable software applications within a variety of technologies and environments. required
Expert knowledge of programming skills
Demonstrated knowledge of distributed system design and integration patterns
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and Dev Ops Practices
Experience with analyzing, interpreting and communicating complex problems and practices
Preferred
Backend Development experience, with experience in: Java/Kotlin, Springboot
