Zocks is an AI platform transforming how financial advisors work. Starting in the US financial services market, we're building technology that supports advisors across their entire workflow - from sales and meeting preparation to note-taking, follow-ups, scheduling, email, document intelligence, reporting, and integrations with the systems they use every day.

Zocks is headquartered in San Francisco, while our entire R&D organization - Engineering, Product, Design, Data, and Infrastructure - is based in Budapest. This means our Budapest teams don't just execute on a product built elsewhere: they're directly responsible for shaping the product, technology, and how we build them as we grow.

Location: Budapest, XI., Science Park (On-site Monday to Thursday, Remote on Fridays)

Why we're hiring for this role: As we continue to grow and evolve, we're seeking a Staff Software Engineer with at least 7 years of experience to join our dynamic team of developers. We are looking to expand our team with someone who can bring fresh perspectives, advanced technical skills, and a passion for innovation. Ou Staff engineers are not just writing code, but setting direction. We're looking for someone who drives architectural decisions, owns features end-to-end, and mentors the team while working closely with the engineering manager. You will play a crucial role in driving forward our product, enhancing our product offerings, and meeting the increasingly complex needs of our customers.

Key challenges you will work on every day

• Integrating the latest AI models into customer facing features and workflows at scale
• Taking part in driving architectural decisions and setting technical direction across the team
• Solving complex problems and transform them into business solutions
• Owning features end-to-end, from design through production
• Mentoring engineers through code review and technical guidance
• Supporting the engineering manager on team-level technical decisions
• Leveraging your expertise in the current technology stack, which includes Python, MySQL, React, AWS, K8S and many more
• Working in an agile environment with a strong focus on well-structured code, testing, and continuous integration
• Working closely with key stakeholders such as Product Managers, UX Designers and other development team members
• Taking part in all stages of development: investigate product increments’ technical feasibility and suggest implementation options and follow development lifecycle until releasing
• Design and build tools and frameworks to automate development, testing deployment, management and monitoring of the company’s services and products
• Give a high level of attention to creating software and networking platforms free of faulty programming, design well-organized code
• Plan and scale distributed software and applications, applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, write code, and deliver with urgency and quality
• Track, document, and maintain software and network system functionality—both internally and externally, leveraging opportunities to improve engineering productivity

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in full-stack development (preferably with React and Python or comparable language e.g. Java, NodeJS) in developing, maintaining and deploying software
• Proven track record of driving architectural decisions and technical direction
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers
• Proactively find problems of existing system/product without guidance and offer solutions
• Solid knowledge in cloud computing, especially AWS
• Capability to understand the codebase and drive assigned request to improve it, such as migrating it to modern frameworks
• Experience working in an agile development environment, preferably in a startup or dynamic tech company
• Interest in AI technology and staying abreast of the latest trends and advancements in the field is advantage
• Strong English and Hungarian communication skills
