What You Will Do
- Architect, design, and deliver complex software systems that power the core functionalities of the platform.
- Drive technical strategy and establish engineering standards, influencing software development practices across teams.
- Lead the development of scalable and maintainable backend systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to translate business requirements into robust engineering solutions.
- Mentor and elevate the skills of senior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical debt, enhancing system reliability.
- Contribute to the hiring process and help shape the engineering culture of a remote-first team.
Ideal Candidate Background
- 6–10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of delivering impactful systems at scale.
- Demonstrated experience operating at a Staff or equivalent senior engineering level, owning large technical initiatives end-to-end.
- Strong foundation in software architecture, system design, and distributed systems, particularly in backend development.
- Experience working on consumer-facing or marketplace platforms where performance and user experience are critical.
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and work cross-functionally.
Preferred
- Experience with data ingestion, ETL processes, and operational data infrastructure, especially in handling messy, unstructured data.
- A proactive approach to modernizing and streamlining backend systems, with a focus on improving data quality and processing efficiency.
