Job Description
A Staff Scientist position is available at the Wistar Institute to support the McGinnis Laboratory. The McGinnis Lab studies how tumors interact with the immune system during metastasis and developing new single-cell genomics modalities to interrogate mechanisms of pro-metastatic immune remodeling. Focusing on breast cancer, osteosarcoma, and other tumor types with lung metastatic tropism, the McGinnis Lab aims to improve our basic understanding of how tumors spread and translate these insights into the development of anti-metastatic immunotherapies.
Candidates must have significant expertise in both basic and advanced cellular and molecular biology, with a strong focus on mechanistic investigation. Strong candidates will have a track record of independently driving high-impact projects, evidenced by publications and funding, and a willingness to learn new biological concepts and build technical expertise in single-cell genomics, high-throughput drug screening, ex vivo tissue culture systems, and in vivo mouse modeling.
Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) degree and a minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral experience and demonstrate a track record of first author as well as collaborative publications. Experience in the following areas is preferred: cancer biology, immunology, molecular biology, cell culture, flow cytometry, mouse colony maintenance and surgical techniques, and/or next-generation sequencing.
Interested individuals should complete the application through this page. In addition, we request you send your CV including a list of publications and manuscripts in preparation, a one-page cover letter detailing the reason for their scientific interest in the lab and career goals, as well as names and contact information for at least 3 references to cmcginnis@wistar.org.
