Responsibilities:

This Staff Scientist will join and support the Mayadas lab which focuses on elucidating how neutrophil-derived antigen-presenting cells (nAPCs) regulate T- and B-cell responses in the contexts of cancer and autoimmune disease. The Staff Scientist will specifically assist in lab research that seeks to define the neutrophil-intrinsic mechanisms and extrinsic signals that drive nAPC differentiation and function as well as characterize the heterogeneity of neutrophil populations involved in antigen presentation versus canonical effector functions. The overall goal will be to shape the direction of one’s research project based on one’s interests, creativity, and emerging scientific opportunities, while aligning with the laboratory’s goals and funding objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Cellular Characterization: Characterize the heterogeneity of neutrophil populations involved in antigen presentation versus canonical effector functions.
• Developmental Studies: Investigate the developmental origins, lifespan, and trafficking patterns of nAPCs.
• Molecular Pathway Analysis: Identify molecular pathways governing nAPC generation, migration, and immunological activity.
• Data Interpretation: Analyze experimental data to draw meaningful conclusions and advance the understanding of nAPC biology.
• Scientific Communication: Prepare manuscripts, presentations, and reports to disseminate research findings to the scientific community.
• Other job duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• PhD
• 2 years of relevant postdoctoral training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Immunology, Neutrophils, Autoimmune disease, cancer, high dimensional flow cytometry and computational analysis, cell sorting, mouse handling and disease models, cell isolation from mouse and human tissue, organoid models
