The Emergency Staff RN assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care in the Emergency
Department, utilizing the nursing process for a designated time frame. Provides care of these patients
according to Marshall’s standard of practice. Maintains good public relations by interacting with patients,
visitors, physicians, and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. Functions as the
patient’s advocate at all times. Oversees the performance of any non-professional whose activities
impact their patient’s care. Ensures the safe handling of infectious material and ensures patient and
staff safety at all times.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
· Current California Registered Nursing (RN) license required
· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
· Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
· Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification strongly preferred within 6 months of hire
· Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) strongly preferred within 2 years of hire
· Trauma Nursing Core Courses (TNCC) required within 1 year of hire
Knowledge:
· 2 years RN experience required.
· ER experience preferred.
· Per Diem status positions, 2+ years Emergency department experience is strongly preferred.
Skills:
· Has the physical and mental health sufficient to accomplish the duties of a RN and is able to
meet the pharmacology requirements of Marshall Medical Center.
· Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment.
· Ability to work effectively under pressure and multitask in a dynamic environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Familiarity with EPIC.
· Must have basic computer skills.
