The Staff Research Associate (SRA) will be responsible for conducting scientific projects related to the neuronal basis of human memory, under the supervision of the Director of the Cognitive Neurophysiology Lab. This includes independently performing neuronal recordings while presenting cognitive tasks to epilepsy patients who have electrodes implanted for monitoring seizures. Paradigms involving Deep Brain Stimulation will also be conducted by the SRA under the supervision of a neurologist.
You will be using programs such as Matlab, BrainLab, ASHS, ANTS, and FSL for data preparation and analysis, and providing detailed evaluation of findings to the Director. The SRA is expected to keep track of Inventory, maintenance, and regular inspection of lab equipment and materials. You will also be involved in preparation of grant applications and reports, preparation of human subjects IRB applications and renewals, and preparation/editing of correspondence related to the program. Additionally, you will help with purchasing for the program and interact with the funding agencies. The ideal candidate must be willing to work flexible hours beyond their regular schedule, including day, night, and weekend shifts; this may involve multiple shifts on the same day. The SRA is expected to work half-time at 20 hours per week, with the potential to increase to full-time (40 hours per week) if the role converts to career. Experience with scientific research including data analysis/coding is highly preferred.
