Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Neurology is seeking to hire a Staff Research Associate I to support ongoing drug discovery research projects under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) and supervision of the DDL Director of Operations. The incumbent will assist with chemical synthesis, purification and characterization of compounds, cell culture studies, biological assays, and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic research activities. Responsibilities include operating laboratory equipment such as AlphaLISA, fluorescence plate readers, HPLC, MS, and NMR instruments, maintaining accurate research records, and providing administrative support for grants, laboratory orders, and research operations. The position requires close collaboration with the research team and offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise in a dynamic drug discovery environment.

*This is a part time, limited appointment, may convert to career*

Hourly range: $30.12-$35.92


Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to maintain clear and concise lab notes and data records
  • Ability to work independently as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred:

  • Experience performing Drug Discovery Lab assays
  • Experience running HPLC, MS, NMR and TLC
  • Experience in compound synthesis
  • Experience working with cell lines and cell treatment
  • Experience with in vitro ADMET
  • Experience with Pharmacokinetic (PK) analysis my MS to determine brain and plasma levels
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, or related field
