The Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology is seeking to hire a Staff Research Associate 2 to support the Jacobs Laboratory in its work generating and maintaining bacterial culture libraries derived from human samples. This role is central to advancing microbiome research and providing high‑quality microbial resources for multiple ongoing projects.
In this position, you will perform anaerobic, microaerophilic, and aerobic microbial culture, ensuring accurate growth, preservation, and documentation of diverse bacterial isolates. You will also maintain the specialized equipment, workspaces, and environmental systems required for these cultures, helping ensure smooth and compliant laboratory operations.
The role involves close coordination with lab members and external collaborators to fulfill requests for specific microbial strains and support research workflows. This position is ideal for someone detail‑oriented, organized, and enthusiastic about contributing to microbiology and translational gastroenterology research.
