Primary Duties and Responsibilities

You will work as a part-time Staff Research Associate I (SRA I) in a cutting-edge regenerative medicine research laboratory under the mentorship of Dr. Gerald Lipshutz in support of multiple research projects. More specifically, you will help manage the lab's various research animal colonies. In this role, you will also characterize protein expression in harvested tissues and organs by qRT-PCR and immunohistochemistry (IHC).

Hourly salary range: $30.12 - $35.92. Please note that the department’s target hourly rate is $30.12

This is a part-time, limited appointment that may convert to career.

Required:

  • Skill in routine molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis sufficiently to convey experimental results to principal investigators.
  • Writing skills sufficient to compose laboratory protocols which are clear, concise, logical and display proper syntax and grammar.
  • Interpersonal skill to interact and collaborate effectively with scientist coworkers, graduate students and faculty.
  • Skill in handling and disposing of contaminated material according to protocol.
  • Ability to organize raw data into relevant formats.
  • Reading skills sufficient to understand specific protocol relevant journal articles, and equipment.
  • Ability to perform library searches.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology
  • Experience working with research animals
