Overview

The Staff Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients and their families in compliance with the standards for care at AHMC Seton Medical Center and Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

Clinical Practice: Nursing

• Assesses, collects and documents health assessment data focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, psychosocial and educational needs of the patient.
• Completes and documents assessment, focusing on abnormal systems and actual and potential problems. Performs ongoing assessment as indicated.
• Plans nursing care, based on priority of physical and psychosocial-emotional needs.
• Implements the plan of care including prescribed procedures and treatments.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care delivered to reach the expected outcome.

Clinical Practice: Progressive Care Unit

• Utilizing professional nursing knowledge and skills based upon evidence-based practice

Understand and practice according to the Nurse Practice Act, RN as Supervisor over appropriate clinical staff.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Staff Nurse II – Minimum of six months Registered Nurse experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

• Current California licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through American Heart Association.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledgeable of the California Nursing Practice Act.
• Able to understand and follow all policies, procedures, guidelines, rules and regulations of Nursing Service, AHMC Seton Medical Center, Title XXII.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
