Staff Nurse

Location: Utako Phase 2, Abuja
Industry: Healthcare

Salary: ₦300,000 – ₦400,000 Monthly

The Staff Nurse will play a critical clinical support role within diagnostic imaging and outpatient services. The role involves patient preparation, clinical assessment, intravenous cannulation, and support during imaging and outpatient procedures

The nurse will work closely with radiographers, the Resident Medical Officer (RMO), and outpatient clinic teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care delivery

This is a hands-on, patient-facing role requiring strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to respond promptly to medical needs and emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Preparation for Imaging


  • Prepare patients for diagnostic imaging procedures

  • Conduct pre-scan safety checks including identification, consent, and screening

  • Ensure patients are properly positioned, informed, and comfortable

  • Collaborate with radiographers to ensure smooth patient flow

2. Cannulation & Clinical Procedures


  • Perform intravenous cannulation for contrast imaging studies

  • Ensure safe administration of contrast in line with clinical protocols

  • Monitor patients during and after contrast procedures

  • Maintain accurate documentation of all clinical interventions

3. Clinical Assessment & Patient Safety


  • Conduct clinical assessments to identify risks or contraindications prior to procedures

  • Recognize and respond promptly to deteriorating or unwell patients

  • Initiate immediate care and escalate to the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) when required

  • Support basic life support (BLS) and emergency response procedures

4. Support to Radiographers


  • Assist radiographers during imaging procedures where necessary

  • Ensure efficient coordination between nursing and radiography teams

  • Support patient flow management to reduce delays and improve efficiency

5. Support to RMO & Outpatient Clinics


  • Assist the RMO in clinical assessments and patient management

  • Support outpatient clinic operations, including observations and basic care tasks

  • Ensure clinic rooms are properly prepared and stocked

6. Infection Control & Clinical Governance


  • Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and clinical safety

  • Ensure compliance with all clinical governance and regulatory standards

7. Documentation & Record Keeping


  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical records

  • Document patient assessments, procedures, and incidents

  • Ensure proper handover communication between shifts and departments

8. Patient Experience & Care


  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care at all times

  • Clearly explain procedures and reassure patients

  • Address patient concerns appropriately and escalate when necessary

Qualifications & Requirements


  • Registered Nurse (RN) with valid practicing licence from the relevant regulatory body

  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years clinical experience

  • Experience in acute care or diagnostic imaging settings is an added advantage

  • Competence in intravenous cannulation and patient assessment

  • Strong understanding of clinical safety protocols
