Venturi Astrolab, Inc. (Astrolab) is pioneering new ways to explore and operate on distant planetary bodies. We are focused on designing, building, and operating a fleet of multi-purpose commercial planetary rovers to extend and enhance humanity’s presence in the solar system. We are seeking motivated, creative, and exceptional people to join our team.

The Avionics team is responsible for all aspects of the electrical systems and hardware on Astrolab’s electric rover vehicles and ground support equipment. We work collaboratively across engineering disciplines to deliver exceptionally capable, reliable electronics that support flight and mission operations.

The Staff Mixed Signal Electrical Engineer will lead the development, verification, and integration of mixed signal avionics hardware for Astrolab rovers. This role owns mixed signal PCBA architecture and execution from clean sheet design through qualification and flight. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in complex electrical hardware design, including schematic capture, PCB layout, analysis, and testing in high-reliability environments.

This position will report to the Director of Avionics Engineering and will be based in our Hawthorne, CA office.

  • Define requirements, architectures, and con ops in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams
  • Perform schematic capture and PCB layout of complex power, digital, and analog circuit PCBAs using Altium Designer
  • Design analysis, including power, size, mass, Monte Carlo tolerances, signal integrity, and reliability-related.
  • Lead PCBA design verification testing, qualification testing, and system integration efforts
  • Drive and present design reviews for interdisciplinary audiences, providing technical leadership and clear trade recommendations
  • Support manufacturing, environmental testing, and flight operations as needed

What's Prepared You:

  • Experience taking hardware from early architecture through qualification, production, or flight
  • Skilled at performing circuit simulations and analysis in SPICE, Excel, and other tools for analog behavior, signal integrity, size and mass, and power optimization
  • Proficiency with electronic lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, and soldering tools
  • Demonstrated success operating with ownership in dynamic, fast-paced environments

Additional Responsibilities

  • Design for space environments including radiation impacts, mitigation strategies, and long duration reliability considerations
