Lead Infrastructure Engineer – Cambridge

Hybrid working, 2–3 days per week in the office

We have a new exciting opportunity for a hands-on technical Senior Infrastructure Lead to join our Enterprise Infrastructure team at our EMEALA Regional Head Quarters, where you'll be accountable for the stability, security, and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure, identity, end user computing, and data centre services.

This role combines strong engineering depth with technical leadership, acting as a senior escalation point for complex issues, driving infrastructure standards, and delivering practical improvements that strengthen service resilience and employee productivity.

You are a highly capable infrastructure engineer with strong hands-on expertise across enterprise platforms and you have the credibility to lead technically in a complex global environment.

You bring deep knowledge of Windows Server, virtualization, cloud, identity, and endpoint technologies, and you are comfortable owning complex issues from diagnosis through to resolution.

You combine strong troubleshooting skills with sound technical judgment, clear communication, and a practical approach to improving reliability, security, and operational effectiveness.

Technical Skills & Experience requirements

  • Strong hands-on expertise across enterprise infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, and core data centre operations.
  • Strong experience with endpoint engineering and management, including Intune, SCCM, Jamf, Windows and macOS lifecycle management, endpoint security, patching, and software deployment.
  • Solid technical capability across Microsoft 365, Azure infrastructure services, Okta, SSO, MFA, conditional access, and enterprise authentication troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex cross-platform issues, lead root cause analysis, and improve operational efficiency through scripting, automation, and clear technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure, identity, and endpoint issues, leading root cause analysis and permanent resolution.
  • Own infrastructure lifecycle activities including deployment, upgrades, patching, hardware refresh, capacity planning, and decommissioning.
  • Maintain secure, stable, and compliant infrastructure and endpoint services aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Lead and improve core enterprise services including Active Directory, Azure AD, Okta, SSO, MFA, and endpoint management platforms.
  • Strengthen resilience through effective backup, recovery, documentation, automation, and operational standardization.
  • Partner across Service Desk, EUC, security, and application teams to resolve issues, deliver improvements, and support global operations.
  • Participate in a 24x7 Tier 2 on-call rotation supporting critical infrastructure and end user computing services.

INDEUR

The estimated base salary range for the Staff IT Engineer role based in United Kingdom is GBP 63,800 - 95,600.
The
range reflects long‑term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. This salary range applies to the primary posting location listed above. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range will be updated accordingly. Compensation ranges for other locations will differ to reflect local market competitiveness and will be shared with candidates if applicable during the recruitment process.
Additionally,
all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
