Job Description

Power Integrations is looking for an ambitious, highly motivated Staff Field Application Engineer who will thrive in our fast-paced and diverse working environment. You will work closely with sales, engineers, and manufacturers to provide the best optimized solutions to Power Integrations customers. You will be working on highly integrated solutions for high frequency power electronics using state of the art GaN and Si technology. Responsibilities:
  • Provide switching power supply design support using company’s products.
  • Provide expert technical advice to the company's customers worldwide.
  • Perform analysis of technical issues presented by customers and offer solutions.
  • Perform design reviews for power supply designs made by customers using company’s products. Such design reviews consist of review of Schematic, PCB layout, design of magnetics and performance results.
  • Provide components selection advice to achieve best in class performance for power supplies designed using company’s products
  • Support the sales team in visiting customers and offering technical training
  • Assist with trade shows and seminars to promote company’s products
Basic Requirements:
  • BSEE/MSEE or Foreign equivalent
  • BSEE with 7 years of experience or MSEE with 4 years’ experience
  • Hands-on experience with power supply design or power electronics and design of transformers and inductors for switching power supplies.
  • Familiar with power supply topologies such as Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, Flyback Converters, etc.
  • Ability to perform complex calculations including worst case analysis for circuits designed using company’s products
  • Experience using tools such as MATLAB, Excel, C++, Simulation software (SIMPLIS, LTspice, etc.)
  • Strong hands-on ability and experience with lab equipment required for testing high frequency switching power supplies.
  • Excellent written and oral communications with experience in specification creation, technical report writing and preparation of test plans / instructions
  • Ability to travel to key customers – 10%
 Desirable skills:
  • Experience developing firmware using C/C++ for embedded controllers for power supply application and being able to provide firmware coding advice for applications designed using  Power integrations’ products. 
  Power Integrations is committed to building teams that drive innovation and therefore review a range of factors when determining compensation.   The annual base pay range for this position is $120,125 to $180,411. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, qualifications and work location.     The range displayed on the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position in California.
