Job Description

Help build the platform behind the music industry

Songtradr is the world's largest B2B music technology company, providing end-to-end solutions across music licensing, rights management and direct-to-fan experiences. Through products including MassiveMusic and Bandcamp, Songtradr empowers music creators and enables global brands to connect with audiences through the power of music.

Behind this is a global platform operating at significant scale. Our systems process billions of requests every month, powering experiences for millions of music fans, independent artists and businesses worldwide.

Now we're bringing that engineering to Finland.

We're building a brand-new Center of Excellence in Helsinki, creating a rare opportunity to join one of its first engineering teams. You'll work across multiple products and platforms within the Songtradr portfolio – from enterprise music solutions to Bandcamp, one of the world's largest marketplaces for independent artists – while helping shape the ways of working and engineering culture of our new Helsinki organisation.

The role

We're looking for a Staff Engineer with deep frontend expertise to join our new Helsinki engineering organisation.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role with impact beyond a single product or codebase. You'll contribute across our global platforms, helping us build and evolve high-performance, user-centered web applications while influencing how frontend engineering is done across teams.

You'll work closely with engineers, architects, product managers and UI/UX designers across our global organisation. You'll help turn complex product and technical challenges into pragmatic solutions, guide architectural decisions and raise the engineering bar around you.

Your work will include:

  • Designing and building high-quality frontend applications and experiences used by audiences around the world

  • Driving frontend architecture and technical direction across products and teams

  • Solving complex challenges around performance, scalability, accessibility and maintainability

  • Evolving established applications through pragmatic modernization and sound technical decision-making

  • Raising the engineering bar through hands-on development, mentoring and strong engineering practices

  • Partnering across engineering, product and design, while championing new ways of working – including AI-assisted development

Tech Stack

Our frontend ecosystem continues to evolve, but today you'll work with technologies and practices such as:

  • TypeScript & JavaScript

  • Vue at Bandcamp

  • React across our broader platforms

  • Modern HTML, CSS & browser APIs

  • REST APIs

  • Component libraries & design systems

  • Unit, integration & end-to-end testing

  • Accessibility & WCAG

  • Linux & macOS development environments

  • AI-assisted software development

You don't need to have worked with every technology in our environment. Deep frontend engineering expertise and the ability to make sound technical decisions matter more to us than matching a checklist.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with a strong track record of building and evolving production-grade web applications and influencing engineering beyond their own individual contributions.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience building and evolving production-grade web applications

  • Deep frontend expertise with TypeScript and modern frameworks such as Vue or React

  • Strong understanding of frontend architecture, performance, accessibility and maintainability

  • Experience making and driving technical decisions across complex products or multiple teams

  • A track record of modernizing established codebases while balancing long-term direction with pragmatic delivery

  • The ability to influence, mentor and raise engineering standards without relying on formal authority

  • A strong quality mindset, including automated testing and modern software development practices

  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development and curiosity about how AI can improve engineering workflows

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in an English-speaking, global engineering organisation

We don't expect you to tick every box. We're much more interested in strong engineering judgement, technical depth and the impact you've had on the teams and systems around you than a perfect match with every technology in our stack.

Why Songtradr, why now

We're growing our engineering organisation in Helsinki, creating a rare opportunity to join at an early stage while working on established products at global scale.

As one of our early Staff-level engineering hires, you'll have the opportunity to influence not only the technology you work on, but how our Helsinki engineering organisation develops: the standards we set, how teams collaborate and how we approach engineering challenges as we grow.

Our new office opens in September 2026 in Vallila, and we'll work in a flexible hybrid model where the team comes together a few days each week.

What you'll get

Salary: €6250-7900 per month, depending on experience

Equity: RSUs – real upside as the company continues to grow

Flexible hybrid working from our brand-new Helsinki office in Vallila

Growth: 15 hours per month dedicated to learning and professional development

Our values

Lead with Music. Our compass and our passion.

Perform as One Band. United by purpose and trust.

Own Your Voice. Listen deeply, speak honestly.

Ready to amplify your career?

Applications will be reviewed continuously, and we'll start conversations as soon as we find people we'd like to get to know.
