The Mission

We are entering a critical phase of growth. Velocity is improving. AI is accelerating development. But before acceleration, we need architectural depth.

We are looking for a Staff Engineer who cares deeply about:

• Designing systems that scale 10x and 100x

• Failure domains and blast radius reduction

• High availability and reliability engineering

• Clean abstractions and long-term maintainability

• Architecture that enables speed, not blocks it

What You Will Do

• Lead architecture, design for high-scale systems across payments, EDC, credit, and merchant platforms

• Design for multi-region expansion and high transaction volumes

• Establish and elevate system design review standards

• Drive platform thinking across squads

• Identify scaling bottlenecks before they hurt

• Reduce operational burden through thoughtful abstractions

• Mentor engineers and grow them

• You will work directly with engineering leadership and influence product decisions where system design matters.

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years building and scaling backend distributed systems

• Deep understanding of system design fundamentals (consistency models, caching strategies, event-driven architecture, fault tolerance, data modeling at scale)

• Experience with microservices and/or modular monolith architectures

• Hands-on expertise with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)

• Strong intuition for performance tuning and observability

• Comfort operating in ambiguity while raising engineering bar

Bonus Points

• Experience in fintech or transaction-heavy platforms

• Experience scaling systems across regions

• Prior Staff/Principal-level impact in high-growth environments
