Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Staff Engineer Mission Assurance to join our team in Linthicum, MD This position will support the AMC Restricted Operating Unit within the Advanced Mission Capabilities Business Unit. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

What you'll get to do:

  • Responsible for the implementation of Mission Assurance Principles across the program-life cycle to ensure compliance with Contractual, Regulatory and NGMS requirements.

  • Ensure critical process areas and roles identified through the PM Pro tailoring process are effective to ensure mission success and the effectiveness of the QMS processes.

  • Provide the Program Managers with an objective identification and assessment of program risks and opportunities and an evaluation of the efficacy of the risk management approach throughout the program lifecycle.

  • Communicate risk and opportunities to the Program Managers based upon credible knowledge supported by quantitative and predictive analysis when possible.

  • Establish an integrated and executable mission assurance plan for the program along with supporting plans that align with contractual requirements and stakeholder goals prior to contract start; maintains the planning throughout program life cycle to ensure proper alignment with requirements and goals.

  • Proactively identifies, records, and follows-on to ensure closure of Corrective and Preventive action System (CPAS).

  • Ensure correct and effective quality metrics are utilized on programs.

  • Ensure MA engagement start in pre-proposal phase of the BAP and ensure any roadblocks are quickly identified and elevated for MA management attention.

  • Advocates and implements continuous improvement opportunities, providing leadership and guidance in identifying and executing tasks to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of NGMS processes.

  • Investigates quality problems, issues, and failures through root cause investigation and corrective action implementation.

  • Evaluates Gate Review, Corrective and Preventive Action System (CPAS), Intranet Program Review System (IPRS),

  • Supplier Assessment Management System (SAMS), Quality Assessment Framework (QAF), and other QMS data to understand and address systemic issues.

  • Evaluate and enhance effectiveness of CPAS and RTG actions. Improve Root Cause Evaluations.

  • Responsible for establishing yearly program assessments for high-risk areas associated with the programs.

  • Responsible for defining and monitoring QMS implementation of policies and procedures across the program activities.

  • Provides leadership and mentoring to other Quality engineers in the department.

  • Crate Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for SW CM/QA work on new proposals.

The ideal candidate must have excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication, leadership, and mentoring skills and confidence to brief upper management The ideal candidate must be able to pay attention to detail coupled with the ability to quickly learn, assess, and evaluate new processes/procedures with minimal supervision, and have the ability to generate and analyze quantitative data.

Basic Qualifications for the Staff Engineer Mission Assurance:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience in Mission Assurance. Program Management, or Quality Engineering related role: Master's Degree with 10 years of experience in Mission Assurance, Program Management, or Quality Engineering related role.

  • Experience with direct application of process management and control on software, hardware development, system integration, and production program as a Program Mission Assurance Engineer or Manager.

  • QMS experience.

  • Experience selecting and coordinating key metrics and subsequently presenting meaningful data for project review.

  • Experience with driving risk mitigation, opportunity capture, and issues resolution across all stakeholder disciplines throughout all phases of the product development lifecycle on a fast paced, complex, dynamic, high visibility program

  • Experience with hardware and software integration, development, and production programs.

  • US. Citizenship Required.

  • Active Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP experience.

  • Black Belt/Green Belt Belt Certified.

  • Mission Assurance with Business Acquisition Process experience.

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.

  • Project Management Professional Certification.

  • CSSC Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

  • Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience

  • Certified Cost Account Manager.

  • Top Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
