Job Description

Position Overview

We’re seeking a highly skilled Staff Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and validate advanced electronic systems supporting complex radar and mission-critical applications. This is a hands-on technical leadership role spanning system architecture, high-speed digital design, FPGA-based systems, mixed-signal electronics, and hardware integration.

You’ll tackle challenging engineering problems, lead critical design efforts, and mentor other engineers while bringing sophisticated electronic systems from concept through prototype, testing, and deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Design and validate electronic systems incorporating high-speed digital interfaces, FPGAs, embedded processors, mixed-signal electronics, and RF components.

Develop high-speed circuitry using PCIe, DDR4/5, Ethernet, SGMII, and USB, along with SPI and I²C interfaces.

Create FPGA logic using VHDL/HDL and support embedded system architecture and integration.

Develop schematics and PCB layouts using Altium, supporting simulation, fabrication, bring-up, and testing.

Lead hardware verification, lab testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis to improve system performance and reliability.

Build test setups, develop test procedures, and use laboratory instrumentation to validate designs.

Support prototype development, hardware integration, precision soldering, component rework, and field troubleshooting.

Produce clear technical documentation and ensure designs meet applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, and customers.

Contribute technical expertise to project planning, system architecture, proposals, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Approximately 8–12 years of relevant engineering experience.

Strong experience with high-speed digital circuit design, signal integrity, and embedded electronics.

Hands-on experience with FPGA-based systems, VHDL/HDL, and microprocessor architectures.

Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design using Altium or comparable tools.

Experience with digital interfaces such as PCIe, DDR4/5, Ethernet, USB, SPI, and I²C.

Proficiency with lab instrumentation, hardware bring-up, debugging, and prototype validation.

Familiarity with version control tools such as Git or Subversion.

Strong technical judgment, documentation skills, and the ability to work independently.

Demonstrated technical leadership, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to engineering excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

RF circuit design and analysis, including GHz-frequency systems.

Power electronics and power system design.

Experience with spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and signal generators.

Aerospace, defense, or ruggedized electronics design.

Thermal management of high-performance electronics, including conduction cooling and thermal analysis.

Additional Requirements

Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified government information.

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Comfortable working in a hands-on laboratory environment.

Occasional travel may be required.
