Olink, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, is dedicated to advancing the understanding of human disease through proteomics. Olink panels provide innovative, high-quality solutions for human protein biomarker discovery, enabling researchers to measure thousands of proteins simultaneously from just a few microliters of blood. Using highly specific and thoroughly validated assays with a wide dynamic range, Olink’s technology overcomes traditional limitations in protein analysis and supports deeper insights into human biology and disease.
We are looking for a Staff development engineer to join our Start to Finish PSX R&D department in Uppsala, focusing on the technical development of our antibody-based protein detection methods. As part of the team, you’ll contribute to both the creation of new products and the improvement of existing ones. This role is based at the PSX headquarters in Uppsala. This is a fixed-term position to replace an employee on parental leave until the middle of August 2027.
This role involves working closely with a team to foster innovation and translate new ideas into reality. You will participate in numerous cross-functional projects, often concurrently, so a team-focused attitude and excellent communication abilities are crucial. Your tasks will entail hands-on molecular biology work in the lab, as well as data analysis using tools such as R.
Primary responsibilities
Design, develop, and evaluate molecular biology methods for protein detection.
Innovate and implement technical solutions to support new and existing products.
Plan, implement, and troubleshoot laboratory experiments to validate protocols and methodologies.
Analyze and interpret complex data sets using tools such as R and translate findings into actionable insights.
Detail experimental results and technical findings in clear, structured reports.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive project success.
Participate in technical discussions and decision-making processes related to assay development.
Support transfer of developed methods and protocols to production or external partners, including training and troubleshooting.
Stay current with new technologies and scientific literature relevant to molecular biology and proteomics.
Qualifications and skills
MSc in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related subject area.
Strong foundational knowledge in molecular biology, proteomics, and immunology.
2–5 years of relevant experience in method development, molecular diagnostics, or protein detection technologies.
Proven hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, including PCR, qPCR, NGS, and immunological assays.
Proficiency in data analysis and visualization using R.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data effectively.
Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects in parallel.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, full professional proficiency in English.
A collaborative, proactive, and attitude geared towards innovation.
In order to thrive in this role, it is vital to have a strong collaborative nature and an attitude geared towards problem-solving. Working closely with cross-functional teams, emphasizing open communication, adaptability, and shared problem-solving is essential for driving innovation. Identifying challenges early and providing practical, science-based solutions will be pivotal in progressing both product development and team goals.
