Job Description

Database Performance Optimization

  • Analyze and resolve severe database bottlenecks, high latency, lock contention, blockings, and deadlocks across enterprise OLTP and OLAP systems.
  • Deep-dive into SQL execution plans, index strategies, partitioning, memory allocation, and I/O tuning to maximize database throughput, Parameters Tuning
  • Monitor dynamic performance views (pg_stat_statements, pg_stat_activity, V$, DBA_, AWR, ADDM, execution plans) to proactively identify slow queries and system-level resource constraints.
  • Architect and implement table partitioning, indexing, materialization, and caching strategies.
  • Analyze complex EXPLAIN (ANALYZE, BUFFERS) execution plans to optimize slow queries, rewrite inefficient SQL, and design optimal indexing strategies (B-Tree, GIN, GiST, BRIN).

Monitoring, Reliability & Observability

  • Set up comprehensive database observability metrics using native GCP/CloudWatch/Azure Monitor platforms.
  • Establish SLOs/SLIs for database latency, query response times, and connection pooling.
  • Lead high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) setup, testing, and continuous optimization.

Nice-To-Have:

Database DevOps & Infrastructure

  • Implement Database Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform , KCC etc.
  • Build automated database deployment pipelines using Git CI/CD, Jenkins.
  • Manage automated database schema changes and migrations using tools like Liquibase or Flyway.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 8+ years of core database engineering experience, with at least 5+ years specializing in deep Database tuning
  • Database Mastery: Deep understanding of Database internal architecture. Willing to learn new DB technologies with Cloud first mindset
  • Execution Plan Diagnostics: Advanced ability to analyze execution plans, join order decisions, index usage, and system-level disk I/O bottlenecks.
  • Scripting: Automation proficiency in Shell or Python,
  • High Availability Tools: Direct experience setting up and troubleshooting.
