The Staff Counsel, under the direction of the VP, Legal Affairs is responsible for facilitating a wide range of contract and legal support for all matters including, but not limited to, contracts, insurance, policy development and review, and other legal issues relevant to the Foundation for California Community Colleges (Foundation) in support of student success.
Provides advice and guidance to Foundation programs and staff, as directed by Supervisor, on legal issues, including, but not limited to non-profit corporate governance and compliance, data privacy and security, intellectual property, risk management, contract compliance, and performs legal review of contracts
Provides legal support to the Contracts department; may create, revise, amend, and assist with negotiating contract terms in compliance with the Foundation’s Contracts Policy.
Conducts legal research and drafts research memoranda as directed by Supervisor.
Builds and cultivates relationships internally and externally where appropriate, acts as organizational brand ambassador as needed and provides business development support and input where there is opportunity.
Relevant BA/BS, 2+ years work experience, or a combination of both.
Juris Doctorate (JD) required.
Active California State Bar License required.
Ability to work remotely and navigate various technology platforms (Zoom, MS Office Suite-Teams, Outlook, Salesforce Lightning and other database programs, Google Suite, etc.)
Practices ownership, takes accountability, and has the ability to project manage, prioritize tasks, and deliver quality products on time with limited supervision

Budgeted Annual Salary Pay Range:
$92,500.00 - $100,000.00
Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.
