Job Description

We are seeking a Staff BSW Middleware Engineer responsible for the design, development, integration, and optimization of middleware and platform services on automotive High Performance Computing (HPC) platforms running QNX OS. The role involves architecting and configuring Basic Software (BSW) and middleware components, enabling service-oriented communication, optimizing inter-process communication, and ensuring seamless interaction between system services, platform software, and application layers.

The engineer will collaborate with OS, BSP, platform, validation, cybersecurity, and application teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performance middleware solutions that support real-time and safety-critical automotive systems. The role includes software architecture, system integration, performance optimization, troubleshooting, automation, and technical leadership across middleware development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and integrate middleware applications and platform services on automotive SoC platforms.
  • Customize, port, and maintain Adaptive AUTOSAR Platform components and middleware services.
  • Develop and integrate service-oriented communication solutions using SOME/IP and Service Discovery (SD).
  • Implement and optimize inter-process communication (IPC) mechanisms and service interfaces.
  • Work closely with OS, platform, BSP, and application teams to ensure seamless software integration.
  • Analyze and resolve software performance, stability, memory, and communication issues.
  • Support middleware deployment and validation on QNX-based target hardware, virtual platforms, and development environments.
  • Develop build, deployment, test, and validation automation using CMake, Python, and Shell scripting.
  • Perform debugging, root cause analysis, and issue resolution across middleware and application layers.
  • Support software quality activities including unit testing, integration testing, static analysis, and code reviews.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, software integration, and software release activities.
  • Provide technical leadership for middleware architecture, design, development, and integration activities across automotive HPC platforms.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, lead architecture, design, and code reviews, and drive technical decision-making across teams.
  • Establish and promote software engineering best practices to ensure scalable, reliable, maintainable, and high-performance platform solutions.
  • Participate in Agile development processes and ASPICE-compliant software lifecycle activities.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Embedded Software Development.
  • Strong understanding of Adaptive AUTOSAR architecture.
  • Knowledge of service-oriented communication and SOME/IP.
  • Hands-on experience with QNX Neutrino RTOS.
  • Strong understanding of microkernel architecture, processes, threads, scheduling, synchronization, and memory management.
  • Proficiency in Modern C++ (C++11/14/17 or later).
  • Experience developing middleware services, daemons, and platform software components.
  • Strong knowledge of inter-process communication (IPC), serialization, and service abstraction layers.
  • Experience working with automotive SoCs and High Performance Computing (HPC) platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux-based development environments.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols including CAN, Ethernet, SOME/IP, TCP/IP, UDP, and IPv4/IPv6.
  • Experience with cross-compilation environments and embedded toolchains.
  • Experience with build systems such as CMake, Make, Bazel, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong version control experience using Git.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and software integration processes.
  • Strong debugging, root cause analysis, and performance optimization skills.
  • Familiarity with automotive software development processes including ASPICE and the V-Model.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Adaptive AUTOSAR Functional Clusters such as ARA::COM, UCM, Diagnostics, FOTA, Crypto, and Execution Management.
  • Experience integrating Adaptive AUTOSAR Software Integration Packages (SIPs).
  • Hands-on experience developing middleware frameworks and platform services in C++.
  • Experience with QEMU, virtualization technologies, hypervisors, or POSIX-based emulation environments.
  • Understanding of functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and automotive cybersecurity standards (ISO/SAE 21434).
  • Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting for automation, validation, and tooling development.
  • Knowledge of POSIX operating systems, QNX internals, and hypervisor architectures.
  • Experience with automotive infotainment, digital cockpit, ADAS, body controllers, or HPC vehicle compute platforms.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives across global engineering organizations.
