Job Description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Backend Developer, U-Ads in Canada.

This role sits at the core of a high-scale, real-time advertising platform that processes billions of requests daily to deliver relevant and performant ad experiences worldwide. You will contribute to the design and evolution of distributed backend systems that power ad delivery, bidding, reporting, and analytics at massive scale. The environment is highly performance-driven, with strict requirements for latency, reliability, uptime, and data integrity. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, data engineers, and platform engineers to build and optimize systems that directly impact monetization for game developers globally. This is a key technical role focused on modernizing legacy infrastructure while advancing scalable, cloud-native architectures. The team operates in a fast-paced, remote-first setting where collaboration, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement are central to success.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that support real-time ad delivery and monetization systems.
  • Build and optimize distributed systems capable of handling high-throughput, low-latency workloads across global traffic.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to deliver new advertising features and platform capabilities.
  • Improve system performance, observability, reliability, and cost efficiency while modernizing legacy backend components.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical direction across backend and platform systems.
  • Ensure system reliability, uptime, and security across mission-critical advertising infrastructure.
  • Support data-driven features including impression tracking, bidding systems, and analytics pipelines.

    • Requirements:

    • Strong experience building and scaling backend systems in high-traffic, distributed environments.
    • Proficiency in Golang and experience working with relational databases such as MySQL.
    • Solid understanding of distributed systems, API design, and system reliability principles.
    • Experience with cloud infrastructure and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
    • Familiarity with observability practices, including monitoring, logging, and performance tuning.
    • Strong collaboration and communication skills in a remote or distributed engineering environment.
    • Experience working with caching systems, real-time data pipelines, or high-performance architectures is a plus.
    • Exposure to ad tech, programmatic advertising, or real-time bidding systems is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform) is an advantage.
