The Florida Department of Children & Families (DCF), Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency (ESS) is looking for a self-driven, highly motivated Staff Assistant who enjoys keeping things organized, supporting leadership, and helping an office run smoothly.

What You’ll Do

This position provides high-level administrative support to a Program Administrator and helps keep daily operations on track. You’ll be trusted to handle details, coordinate tasks, and communicate clearly with staff and partners.

Examples of work include:

  • Compile and analyze data to support administrative decisions
  • Review, analyze, and draft memoranda and professional correspondence
  • Coordinate the collection and presentation of data for budget preparation
  • Support budget control processes across fiscal, personnel, and related administrative areas
  • Interpret policies and provide information to help resolve issues
  • Perform related administrative/clerical duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Three (3) years of secretarial or clerical work experience OR substitution options:
    • College education may substitute (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours = 1 year of experience) OR
    • Vocational/technical training in secretarial science or office/business studies may substitute (720 classroom hours = 1 year of experience)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • Knowledge of office procedures and practices
  • Strong communication skills and effective data collection methods
  • Basic arithmetic and the ability to perform basic calculations
  • Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Professional, tactful customer service and the ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and plan/organize assignments
