Description

the Staff Assistant position in the Office of Statewide Accounting Services within the Finance &
Administration Cabinet!

As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in statewide financial reporting and compliance
efforts, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of Kentucky’s financial operations. This position
provides an exciting opportunity to work closely with leadership, oversee complex financial reporting, and
contribute to policy enhancements that shape the Commonwealth’s financial future.

Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Ensure adherence to state and federal financial regulations, providing strategic recommendations for
    improvements.
  • Collaborate with auditors, agencies, and stakeholders to enhance audit processes and financial reporting
    accuracy.
  • Lead policy analysis and improvement initiatives to enhance financial and administrative operations across
    the Commonwealth.
  • Oversee operational processes within the Office of Statewide Accounting Services, identifying areas for
    efficiency and implementing solutions to streamline workflows.
  • Coordinate major statewide projects related to financial administration, policy updates, and system
    enhancements, ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations.

Skills and Expectations include but are not limited to the following:
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, audits, and compliance (GAAP, GASB, federal/state audit
    regulations).
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, meet deadlines, and provide high-level recommendations.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management.
  • Teamwork and initiative.
  • eMARS experience.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Six years of administrative or management experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
NONE

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
