Responsibilities

THE ROLE:Come help us build the next generation of AI-powered engineering systems that ensure AMD’s platforms continue to lead and outperform the competition. Our team is at the forefront of developing foundational AI solutions and intelligent engineering platforms that transform how product development is executed across AMD. We build cutting-edge tools, services, and platforms that power every phase of the engineering lifecycle — from driver development and validation to large-scale analytics and automation. Our systems operate at global scale, supporting thousands of engineers and processing millions of records across distributed environments. We are evolving beyond traditional automation toward AI-native, agent-driven systems that actively assist, reason, and accelerate engineering workflows. In this role, you will design and develop scalable distributed systems, intelligent automation platforms, and LLM-powered tools and agents that support driver development, validation pipelines, and engineering analytics across AMD’s global engineering organization. THE PERSON:You are passionate about solving complex engineering problems and building intelligent systems using modern technologies across both hardware and software domains. You bring strong experience as a Staff-level engineer and are excited to architect and build next-generation foundational AI platforms, intelligent systems, and agentic solutions that drive engineering productivity across AMD. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Architect and develop scalable systems that support AMD’s engineering and product development workflows
• Design and build LLM-powered tools, copilots, and agentic AI systems that automate complex engineering tasks and improve developer productivity
• Develop distributed automation frameworks used across multiple AMD engineering sites
• Build high-performance backend services, APIs, and data platforms capable of processing millions of records from thousands of systems
• Design systems that enable AI-assisted development workflows, intelligent automation, and knowledge discovery across engineering teams
• Collaborate closely with driver teams, infrastructure engineers, and data scientists to design intelligent tooling and analytics platforms
• Design and implement data pipelines and systems that support LLM training, retrieval-augmented systems (RAG), and AI-powered engineering insights
• Drive architectural decisions and technical direction for internal engineering platforms and AI-enabled systems
• Lead complex technical initiatives that span multiple teams and influence AMD’s broader engineering infrastructure and AI strategy
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in scalable software development, distributed systems design, and AI-native platform development

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Strong experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems and infrastructure platforms, and experience working with large-scale data systems, distributed infrastructure, or AI-enabled software platforms.
• Experience delivering complex technical solutions in collaborative engineering environments, and strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
• Strong programming experience in Python.
• Experience building LLM-powered applications, AI agents, or retrieval-augmented systems (RAG), and experience integrating Generative AI or LLM capabilities into real-world software platforms.
• Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, retrieval systems, or agent orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with backend services, APIs, microservices architectures, and scalable system design, and strong experience solving system scalability, performance, and reliability challenges.
• Experience working with large-scale databases, data pipelines, and analytics platforms.
• Experience building developer productivity tools, automation platforms, or internal engineering infrastructure, and excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on engineering productivity and platform development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead architectural design and influence technical direction across teams.
• A strong drive to learn and apply emerging technologies to solve complex engineering challenges.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
