SBSI is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant / Full Charge Bookkeeper

who wants to work remotely and is ready to take on the challenge of managing multiple complex clients. We need someone with a steady, meticulous, and patient approach to handle our clients' business needs. We have big plans and need your expertise and knowledge to complete our team.

SBSI is a growing company based in Golden, Colorado. We have employees working remotely across the country. We provide bookkeeping, administrative support, and business management services to small businesses nationwide.

Requirements


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple small business clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close.

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.

  • Post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger activity.

  • Coordinate payroll processes including timesheet review, payroll entries, and reconciliations.

  • Manage vendor records, W‑9 collection, and 1099 preparation.

  • Support month-end close by preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and financial work papers.

  • Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and other balance sheet accounts.

  • Communicate directly with clients to obtain missing information, resolve discrepancies, and support ongoing bookkeeping needs.

  • Manage multiple client accounts simultaneously while meeting recurring weekly, monthly, and year-end deadlines.

Technical Skills:


  • Full‑cycle accounting — AP/AR, GL, Journal entries, Month‑End close.

  • Financial reporting.

  • Advanced reconciliations — multi‑account, multi‑entity.

  • Cloud accounting systems — QuickBooks Online.

  • Excel proficiency — pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data cleanup.

  • Payroll coordination — entries, reconciliations, compliance basics.

  • 1099/W‑9 compliance — vendor setup, year‑end filings.

  • Document management - digital workflow tools, audit ready files.

  • Knowledge of sales tax account set-up and filings.

  • Knowledge of payroll tax filings.

  • Client communication — translating financial data for small‑business owners.

  • Time management — managing multiple client deadlines.

  • Problem‑solving — identifying discrepancies and resolving issues.

  • Confidentiality & ethics — handling sensitive financial information.

  • Team collaboration — collaborating with internal teams, leadership, CPAs, and external partners.

  • GAAP fundamentals.

  • Small‑business accounting.

  • Cash flow management.

  • Internal controls.

  • Tax ready preparation.


Qualifications:


Required:


  • Minimum 5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in a professional‑services or multi‑client environment.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (Required).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Oracle's Net Suites a plus (not required).​
