Job Description

The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the casino, ensuring accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of financial transactions. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, with responsibility to support daily treasury function and monthly GL close process.

Key Accountabilities:

Accounting Operations & Reconciliations

  • Verify, record, and reconcile daily gaming and hospitality revenues
  • Reconcile cash, credit card receipts, receivables, and clearing accounts
  • Maintain prepaid expense schedules and prepare monthly amortization entries
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation

Treasury

  • Initiate payments and transfers in the Company’s cash management banking system
  • Verify daily deposits and monitor daily statement of available cash
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare cash orders, LODs, and other treasury administrative documents as required

Month-End & Reporting Support

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual working papers and reconciliations
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Assist with audits and regulatory requests as required

Tax & Compliance Support & Other Duties

  • Prepare GST, PST, and withholding tax calculations and remittances
  • Assist with tax audits and government filings as required
  • Support compliance with gaming, licensing, and statutory requirements
  • Communicate with operational teams and external parties on accounting-related matters
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed

Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of accounting or finance experience
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliations
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Sage or similar an asset)
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities
