Job Description

Position Summary: The staff accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, assisting management with internal and external audits, preparing financial statements, and supporting the Operational Accounting management team. The staff accountant will have proven knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.

Location/Schedule: Hybrid - Addus HomeCare 801 Warrenville Road Ste. 800 Lisle, IL 60532 (Tuesdays in office)

Pay: $70,000 to $80,000

Essential Duties:

• Assists with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements
• Enters Month end close journal entries
• Reviews and analyzes expense accounts to ensure proper coding and make corrections as needed
• Performs monthly income statement variance analyses
• Performs monthly bank reconciliations
• Performs additional accounting duties and ad hoc reporting as required
• Reconciles and research balance sheet variances
• Maintains a high degree of confidentiality at all times due to access to sensitive information
• Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department
• Follows all Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA regulations and requirements
• Abides by all regulations, policies, procedures and standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Position Requirements & Competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA preferred.
• Staff Accountant 2-5 years related experience
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required
