Our award-winning client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. In this critical role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting. You will handle a variety of tasks related to insurance, fixed assets, and regulatory filings, working closely with the Statutory Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries for insurance activity, taxes, fees, and investment activities (based on information provided by the portfolio manager).

• Maintain and generate reports from the insurance activity database.

• Perform reconciliations between the general ledger and sub-ledgers for premiums receivable, investments, and fixed assets.

• Manage fixed asset additions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and reconciliations.

• Maintain state tax filing records.

• Assist with the preparation of annual audited financial statements and quarterly/annual regulatory filings.

• Participate in ad-hoc accounting projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• 1-5 years of work experience in accounting or a related field.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access).

• Experience with modern accounting software is a plus.

• Must have experience with insurance accounting.
