If you are a big picture thinker with the ability to see the “story” behind the numbers, then Manhattan Beer & Beverage Distributors is looking for a Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

How Will You Contribute?

· Ensuring Financial Accuracy: The staff accountant will assist in accurately preparing and analyzing financial statements— including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements—you will ensure the accuracy and reliability of our financial reporting, supporting informed decision-making at all levels.

· Optimizing Accounting Processes: You will be a key contributor to enhancement of accounting procedures and systems, leading to increased efficiency and reduced operational risks. This includes leveraging ERP systems to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy.

· Maintaining Compliance: Through diligent adherence to GAAP accounting standards, as well as applicable regulatory requirements (SLA), you will safeguard the organization's compliance and uphold its reputation. Your role will also involve assisting in audit preparations and responding to auditor inquiries as needed.

· Strategic Financial Planning: Your insights will contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, aiding in the strategic planning and financial health of the company. This includes analyzing financial data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Assist with preparation of, analyze, and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness in maintaining financial records.
• Accounting Operations: Key contributor to monthly, quarterly and year end close deliverables. Process and validate financial transactions, including bank transactions and A/R adjustments. Ensure bank deposits for assigned accounts are recorded correctly and timely, verifying the general ledger agrees with bank balances. Prepare accurate journal entries for main disbursement account, expense accruals and intercompany transactions. Assist with maintenance of the general ledger and perform account reconciliations.
• Compliance and Auditing: Ensure adherence to accounting standards such as GAAP or IFRS, as well as applicable regulatory requirements. Assist in audit preparations and respond to auditor inquiries as needed.
• Process Improvement: Leverage expertise in ERP systems to enhance accounting workflows. Collaborate on developing and improving accounting processes and procedures.
• Team Leadership: Collaborate with accounting staff on team deliverables. Contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts as needed.
• Ad hoc analyses and other special projects, as required.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 1-2 years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA certification or MBA is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (e.g., SUMIF, VLOOKUP, PivotTables), Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various levels of the organization and external vendors.
• Exemplary work ethic, a passion for learning, and a commitment to excellence.
• Desire to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Experience with accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics, Sage 100, or NetSuite.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding work environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
• Proven capability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities with competing deadlines.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Hourly Salary: $31.25 - $36.05

It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus and other potential incentives.
