Job Description

The accountant plays an important role in supporting the Finance Manager with the financial management of Hytorc South Pacific’s operations across Australia, Indonesia and Singapore. The position contributes to the accuracy, transparency, and efficiency of the company’s financial processes.

This role will manage key accounting activities including month-end close processes, general ledger reconciliations, and variance analysis, while also overseeing accounts payable and receivable functions. There will also be some budgeting/forecasting functions included in the tasks. The position requires regular interaction with international finance teams in the United States, Indonesia, and Singapore to ensure alignment with group reporting and financial requirements.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following items are the key functions of the position:

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journals and reconciliations
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Perform financial analysis and variance analysis to support management reporting
  • Oversee and support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and collections
  • Monitor debtor ageing and assist with customer follow-ups where required
  • Prepare and review financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow movements
  • Support sales reporting, financial analysis, and operational reporting requirements
  • Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with accounting standards
  • Assist in maintaining accurate accounting records across SAP and other finance systems
  • Liaise with international finance teams in the US, Indonesia, and Singapore regarding reporting and financial matters
  • Assist with process improvements and strengthening financial controls
  • Provide support to the Finance Manager on ad-hoc financial analysis and projects
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Qualified accountant with a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance (CPA not required)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting principles
  • Experience with month-end processes and variance analysis
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with international teams across multiple time zones
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to identify and improve processes

Occasional flexibility may be required to accommodate meetings with international teams, including those based in the United States and Asia-Pacific regions.

This position reports directly to the Finance Manager and has a primary function of supporting the Finance team. The success of this position will depend on developing strong working relationships with the following parties.
