THE OPPORTUNITY

The Finance department is seeking a Staff Accountant. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting transactions and reports. Working closely with internal teams, the Staff Accountant will ensure complete and accurate financial reporting, utilizing attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to develop effective working relationships across the organization.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review monthly accounting close and flag discrepancies as needed;
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements;
  • Assist with bank reconciliations;
  • Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings;
  • Post transactions to the general ledger;
  • Process and post adjusting journal entries;
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure strong controls are upheld;
  • Develop and prepare ad hoc reports as needed;
  • Assist with various audit functions; and
  • Other relevant duties, as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in nonprofit and/or government accounting, including grant and contract accounting, compliance, and reporting. Working knowledge of NetSuite and Vena Solutions is a plus. Excellent written skills are a must. Candidate must be skilled communicator able to work in multi-disciplinary setting.

Position Type: Full-time.

Position Location: Midtown Manhattan. Hybrid schedule with two days in person required.

Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $67,000 - $82,000 and is commensurate with experience.
